The word “semantron” comes from the Greek verb “sēmainō”, to signify. The work comprises a series of symbolic figures—pieces of sculpture signifying space. The installation includes five totem figures—five separate solids. Each of these solids addresses a concept. The form is molded according to the corresponding discourse and imparts the desired meaning. The resulting solid alludes to the morphoplastic vocabulary which plays a major role in the reception and interpretation of the appropriate signification.
