"THE CONVEX"
The usage of the convex is founded on its ability to transform a surface to a 3 dimensional mass that may be manipulated accordingly to create a piece of furniture. Two processes are combined for the manufacture of the final product. Initially the 8mm thick beech veneer is bent in the factory’s steam press using the appropriate mold. This process produces the desired basic shape/component. Then the manufacturer inter weaves the already existing 6mm wide perforations with a 4 mm thick strap to create the finished seat. The convex shape allows for easy storage, since individual units can be placed in stacks, and enables production with different types of wood veneer (birch, oak, wallnut).
